West Point Bridge Designer - The West Point Bridge Designer will introduce you to engineering through an authentic, hands-on design experience. This software provides you with the tools to model, test, and optimize a steel highway bridge, based on realistic specifications, constraints, and performance criteria. (The West Point Bridge Designer Version 4.1.1 is for IBM-compatible computers running Windows 95 or better. It requires 16 MB of RAM and 8 MB of hard disk space and is constantly being updated and debugged.)

Designing and Building File-Folder Bridges: A Problem-Based Introduction to Engineering
| The book provides students with an opportunity to learn how engineers use math, science, and technology to design real structures. It is intended primarily for high school students, but those in lower grades should be able to complete all but Learning Activity #3, which requires the application of geometry, algebra, and some basic trigonometry. Sometimes the best way to understand what engineers do is to try your hand at it! The following are links to several engineering games on the internet to give you a first hand try at the problem solving skills engineers employ every day!

Slider Puzzle
The Slider Puzzle is a game based on the classic puzzle sliders of old. It was designed by Branden J. Hall using Macromedia Flash and JavaScript.
The object of the game is to arrange the tiles in order to complete the puzzle. To move the game pieces the player must click on a tile next to the open space. The game is over when all of the pieces have been moved into their proper spaces.
Box Battle
Box Battle is a game in which the player competes with the computer to see which one can build the most boxes before the game is over. It was designed by Mike McGrath using JavaScript.
The object of the game is to make more boxes (by clicking in consecutive buttons) than the computer to win. Be careful, a box can only be made and counted for your side if your opponent creates the third side and you complete the box. Play for a while to get the hang of it. A good strategy game.
Mastermind
Mastermind is a computer remake of the classic board game by Pressman. It was designed by Branden J. Hall in Macromedia Flash and JavaScript.
Players must solve a four color puzzle through trial and error. However, the stakes are a little high as players have a finite number of tries to crack the code. The player places four colored pegs on the board and the computer will respond to its correctness by the use of two columns on the right hand side of the board. The first column is for the number of balls with the correct color in the correct position. The second column is the number of pegs that are the correct color in the wrong position.
Battleship
Battleship is a computer remake of the classic board game in which the player competes with the computer to see which can sink each others fleet first. It was designed by Jason Hotchkiss using JavaScript.
The object of the game is to sink the computers entire fleet before it sinks yours. Select a target location by clicking in the Computer's Fleet (left-hand) grid. The right hand grid shows the status of your own fleet. Information as to the remaining strength of the enemy will be relayed directly to your status bar.
